With Fall/Winter 2026 Haute Couture, however, Wun does something even more impressive—he evolves.
Titled Childsplay, the 25-look collection was one of the standout presentations of Paris Haute Couture Week. Inspired by the stages of childhood, Wun transformed familiar memories into couture, exploring imagination, innocence, and creativity through meticulously crafted garments.
In my opinion, it was one of the strongest haute couture collections of Fall/Winter 2026—not simply because of its craftsmanship, but because it felt refreshingly different from Wun’s previous work. His signature sculptural silhouettes remain instantly recognizable, yet this season he reinterprets them with softness, humor, and fantasy instead of relying solely on dramatic architecture. It’s the kind of evolution that defines a great fashion house: you immediately know it’s Robert Wun, but you’re seeing something entirely new.

Childhood Becomes Couture
The collection unfolds like a visual journey through childhood.
It opened with a dramatic white ball gown splattered with vibrant paint, capturing the uninhibited joy of children creating art without worrying about perfection. Throughout the show, stuffed animals, oversized bows, ballerina music-box headpieces, fairy-tale references, and playful accessories appeared alongside impeccably tailored couture.

One of the collection’s highlights was a striking Cinderella-inspired blue gown, complete with an angular heart-shaped bodice and oversized floating bows. Elsewhere, Harlequin-inspired tailoring, glittering butterflies, space helmets, and plush teddy bears transformed familiar childhood symbols into sophisticated couture pieces.
Despite the whimsical references, nothing felt costume-like. Every element was elevated through exceptional craftsmanship and thoughtful construction.

Balloons Become the Collection’s Most Powerful Symbol
The show’s unforgettable finale featured two balloon-covered looks.
First came an all-white tailored ensemble bursting with translucent balloons. Then Wun closed with a sculptural black gown carrying dozens of colorful balloons attached to its dramatic crinoline, recalling the silhouette of a carnival balloon seller.
Rather than serving as spectacle alone, the balloons carried emotional weight.
As Wun explained, they represent childhood itself—joyful, beautiful, fragile, and temporary. It was a poetic ending that reinforced the collection’s central message: while childhood eventually fades, imagination stays with us.

What makes Childsplay particularly successful is how naturally it expands Robert Wun’s identity.
His signature sharp tailoring, sculptural shoulders, and architectural silhouettes are still present, but they feel lighter and more expressive this season. Many young designers become trapped by the visual codes that first made them successful. Wun does the opposite. He builds on those signatures while pushing them in new directions, proving that evolution doesn’t require abandoning identity.
