Chemena Kamali has truly breathed new life into Chloé. With her second collection for the house, she brought a fresh take on its signature aesthetic, filled with hyper-feminine details and frills, while maintaining key elements from her debut. Titled “The Freedom Collection,” it was one of the most anticipated runways of Paris Fashion Week.

Staying true to Chloé’s essence, the collection featured sheer fabrics, intricate lace, and muted, sun-faded hues, evoking a sense of romance. According to the show notes, the palette was designed to feel “rinsed and worn-in,” with silhouettes meant to float and flow effortlessly. Kamali’s vision seamlessly blended nostalgic elements with modern touches, paying homage to Chloé’s archives with quirky pieces like flamingo swimsuits, bloomers, and chunky belts.

“Chloé is not a passing moment; it is an eternal state of mind guided by instinct and optimism,” Kamali stated in the show notes. “What matters to me is the feeling and intuition that guides this very personal, intimate, and sensual way of dressing.… The mood is light, weightless, sensual, and joyful.”

The show opened with a sheer white jumpsuit, featuring puffed sleeves cinched at the arms and pant legs ballooning like pantaloons, followed by a sheer bodysuit and high-waisted bloomers. This trio laid the foundation for the summer wardrobe: voluminous silhouettes and playful contrasts between opaque and see-through fabrics, with plenty of nostalgic references to the ’70s.

Lingerie-inspired touches ran throughout the collection, showing up in lace-trimmed square necklines, bubble hems on dresses, oversized slips, and sheer bralettes layered under boxy blazers. The only prints were a whimsical flamingo on a swimsuit-style piece and a floral motif from Chloé’s 1977 archives, featuring roses and peonies. Accessories embraced the carefree energy of summer, with jewelry and bags featuring chains, shells, sea-washed stones, crochet, and raffia. Kamali even tapped into playful nostalgia by adding jelly shoes and ballet-inspired footwear, aligning with trends spotted in Milan at Ferragamo.
This collection confirms that Kamali is the perfect fit for Chloé. It strikes a delicate balance between hyper-femininity, boho chic, and subtle sensuality, embodying a sense of freedom and joy that feels timeless yet fresh.
