Dior has always been synonymous with timeless elegance and modern reinvention, and its latest ambassador is no exception. Anna Sawai, the rising star captivating audiences as Lady Toda Mariko in the 2024 series “Shōgun,” has officially joined the Dior family. With her commanding on-screen presence and sophisticated style, she embodies the brand’s audacity, grace, and ever-evolving femininity.
Born in New Zealand, Sawai moved to Japan at the age of 10 and soon found her passion for performing. She made her acting debut in a stage production of “Annie” and later gained prominence as one of the lead vocalists of the girl group Faky from 2013 to 2018. Her acting career skyrocketed with her portrayal of Lady Toda Mariko, earning her a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series—the first actress of Asian descent and the first Japanese actress to receive the honor.
Sawai’s relationship with Dior has been building steadily. She turned heads at the 2025 Golden Globes in a custom all-white Dior ensemble that took 450 hours to complete. The look, designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri, highlighted the brand’s dedication to narrative-driven fashion—an approach that aligns seamlessly with Sawai’s own philosophy of storytelling through style.

Her bold yet refined aesthetic, crafted with the help of stylist Karla Welch, complements Chiuri’s vision of empowering women through fashion. From red-carpet elegance to modern femininity, Sawai is poised to bring a fresh perspective to Dior’s storied legacy. This new partnership comes on the heels of her recent appointment as an ambassador for Cartier, further cementing her status as a rising force in both fashion and entertainment.
