Capitalizing on “the single most identifiable part” of the actress, Blake Lively recently launched an affordable hair-care line – Blake Brown Beauty. Available from August 4 exclusively at Target, the products have been perfected for the past seven years with passion from “A Simple Favor” star.
“Ever since I was a kid, through adolescence, early adulthood, motherhood, work, personal life, whenever, wherever, the single most identifiable part about me has always been my personality—no? Not my personality? Oh… My hair,” jokes Lively on her recent Instagram post. “It’s my longest companion in life. For 36 years and counting. And like any relationship, it’s healthiest when you take good care of each other. To love it well, I’ve found a system that has worked wonders for me, a hack of sorts through decades of working with the very best people in the industry, and silly amounts of trial and error,” she writes.

“Why create a line if I had products that worked? Great question. I wanted something that was more affordable but had the same salon/red carpet performance,” she explains. “I also wanted scents that felt like fragrances I would actually buy as high end perfume. I wanted it to be cleaner than the products I was using with great results, so I didn’t feel nervous sharing it with family. I wanted it to attempt to show how beautiful maximum sustainability can be. I wanted it to be vegan, cruelty-free and formulated without sulfates, silicones, parabens, synthetic dyes, etc.”
“I was uncompromising on achieving all of those things at once,” says Lively. “And now I see why there was nothing out there that hit all my goals simultaneously. It was a beast to build. But I couldn’t be prouder of what we created for you.” She claims the products are “so good that they speak entirely for themselves,” and we’ll be sure to report back on that.

In an exclusive interview with Vogue, Blake Lively revealed her straightforward hair care secret: a regimen consisting of two types of shampoo and a hair mask. She bypasses conditioner altogether, opting instead for a moisturizing mask paired with shampoos that focus on hydration and strength—two essentials she believes are crucial for all hair types.
“I’ve discovered a system that has worked wonders for me—a sort of hack developed through years of collaborating with top industry professionals and countless trial and error,” Lively shared on Instagram. Her method involves alternating between two shampoos with each wash and applying a hair mask for about 30 seconds. For example, Lively uses a strengthening shampoo one day and a hydrating one the next.

Regarding the brand name, it reflects Lively’s personal journey. Originally, her father’s last name was Brown, and her mother’s maiden name was Lively. At a recent launch event, Lively revealed to Shop TODAY that both of her parents now carry the Lively name after her father legally changed it. “I wanted to honor my name because I put so much effort into this brand; it’s deeply personal to me,” Lively explained.
Blake Lively’s new hair care brand shows great promise thanks to her influential status, the brand’s alignment with contemporary beauty trends, and its streamlined, effective product line. With successful execution, it has the potential to make a substantial impact in the beauty industry.
