In Milan, the fashion culture is extremely prominent and you can always find high-quality items of clothing at the most affordable prices. These are some of the places that I have been to which are mostly consignment stores and thrift shops: BIVIO, Humana Vintage, Milan Thrift Shop, and Mercato Sabato via Fauche Banco. And I would like to share my honest reviews about these places.
- BIVIO
This is undoubtedly my favorite thrift shop in Milan. Unlike other stores, BIVIO is a combination of designer outlets and second-hand clothes. They have two stores that are 50 meters from each other: one for men and one for women. BIVIO has a wide variety of vintage clothes that have a price range between 5 Euros to 200 Euros. If you go downstairs, the price is between 5-8 euros for a piece. Although the conditions also vary greatly, every piece is extremely stylish and fashionable. Thus, if you are extra in your everyday wear or you are looking for outfits for special occasions, BIVIO is the ideal place for you.
- Humana Vintage
Humana Vintage is conveniently located in the heart of the city, near Duomo. With two floors, the place comprises vintage everyday wear for women, even including leather belts, shoes, and bags. The price ranges between 5 euros and 15 euros/ piece. I bought a cute red vintage cottage-core dress with only 8 euros at the time I came. I would definitely recommend the place for people who love vintage outfits.
- Milan Thrift Shop
This is a small store with a limited variety of choices. However, if you are looking for vintage European summer mules, lingerie, sleepwear, and Y2K pieces, this is the perfect place for you. The price ranges from 15 euros to 30 euros a piece, which makes it considerably higher than other shops in the list.
- Mercato Sabato via Fauche Banco
The true form of thrifting is definitely when you go to the market early in the morning to seize the best deal. Mercato Sabato offers a wide variety of items besides clothes, which include kitchenware, food, fruits, souvenirs, etc. You can find a perfectly fine dress for only 3 euros. It is just that you have to dig hard into these piles of clothes with numerous styles (even questionable ones) and buy them without knowing if they actually fit you. I bought a really cute floral glass ring here for 10 euros. Although these markets always offer the best price, I would recommend you wash your clothes with hot water twice to prevent any infections through skin contact.
In Milan, whether you’re a thrifting newbie or a seasoned pro, there’s something for everyone. Each store offers a unique experience and style, making the hunt for the perfect piece all the more exciting!
